The Monmia Primary School Library was in need of a face lift. On a relatively lean budget the space was transformed into a bright, cheerful and open learning space.
Existing columns were disguised as a new ‘Book Tree’ with quiet reading zone, and a crayon which now holds up the ceiling. Honeycomb carpet with a coloured path leads inquisitive students through the space, which they now enter by an opening between large oversized Harry Potter book spines, framing the library entrance.
A new lighting layout, mimicking patterns in the carpet and splayed bookshelves, help provide an open and easy to survey space.
