Although small in footprint, this minor extension to an existing childcare facility packed a functional punch. Overcrowded and lacking a secure entry point, this addition provided the staff and children with a distinct street address, a sense of arrival and a light filled and private staff room. Also included in the modifications is a small community library and waiting room. On a small budget the build was delivered on a fast-tracked program while the childcare center remained operational, ensuring no child lost a day of care. Soft external timber cladding, high level glazing and a muted interior colour pallet with pops of colour helped differentiate the new addition from the perhaps tired and uneventful main building.
