The design for the Kindergarten and Maternal Health and Children services facility aims to nurture young minds while catering to the sensory needs of neurodiverse and autistic children. There was a strong focus on sustainability for the project including recycled bricks from the original structure, a nature based outdoor play area with productive gardens, and biophilic natural finishes throughout. We prioritised creating calming and sensory-sensitive spaces to foster a sense of security and comfort for children and caregivers alike. The design is a holistic development with emphasis on inclusion for the broader community including young children, senior users, parents and babies and neurodiverse clientele.
